The Mambila live in the vast north region of Cameroon and have produced a considerable number of masks and figures that are characterized by a heart-shaped face: red and white pigments were often applied later. Mambila figures are thought to embody ancestors who, according to to Mambila beliefs, are responsible for the clan's wealth.
