Bura

Niger

The Bura style, characterized by figures with flattened heads and typical scarifications, is linked to the homonymous site near the Nyamey, the capitol city of Niger. The findings of the Bura is arguably one of the great African archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. Knowledge of the Bura culture is based exclusively on their artistic production since neither historical, social nor political information is known to exist.
